UPDATE ON NEW LAND DEVELOPMENT
We have had a huge outpouring of support and donated services that have helped immensely!! And due to fundraising, grantwriting, and volunteer support, we have been able to put in a lot of work into our new property. We began lessons there in April 2009!
We have been able to:
~dig a well
~put up an outdoor arena
~excavate and lay a driveway
~put up fencing to secure our horses
~put up several lean to's for our horses
~put in electric
~put in automatic waterers for the horses
~construct a 24x24 insulated garage/pump house to be used for feed storage and to keep our pump from freezing
~We were so excited to be given a mobile home, which holds our new tack shop, as well as a parent congregation area, office space, and a room for rainy day activities.
Thanks to the awesome fundraising of our Bank of America Chicago Marathon Dream Team runners and from grants we received, we have just been able to install septic, electric and plumbing, which allow us to have running water and a permanent bathroom facility.
~We are working to raise funds to make the bathroom and doorways handicapped accessible.
~We just finished building a ramp into the mobile so the unit is accessible to all.
~Yeah! We now have a heated mobile home to keep us warm in the winter!!Hopefully AC is the next hope for the new mobile unit?!?!
~We have just started construction on a hay storage building. We have secured a grant to start the process and are so excited! Having this building will allow us to accept and store donations of hay, as well as purchase hay when costs are lower and store for the year. This will decrease our overall hay bill, which will make the program more financially stable in our depressed economy.
~Exciting news! We also plan to use part of our new steel building for an indoor arena!! This is AWESOME!!!
We still have a long way to go but we are so excited about the progress thus far!
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!!!We always have projects to do, so if anyone is interested in lending a hand, email us! ride@equinedreams.org
